- If you think your order didn't go through, do not place another order since you might be placing a second order. Check with your brokerage firm on how you can be sure that an order went through and what to do when you have doubts.
- If you have attempted to cancel an order, make sure that the cancellation went through before placing another order. You can only cancel orders that were not executed. Speak to your brokerage firm on how you can satisfy yourself whether an order was cancelled.
- If you cannot access your online account, use alternative methods to process your trades. Many brokerage firms allow you to execute trades using touch tone phones or faxing your orders. As a last resort you can execute an order in the traditional method of calling your broker directly.
